Band Bio Formed in 1996, reaLation. was a work in progress for quite some time. Vincent met guitarist and co-founder David Evans working at a restaurant. The two found a common bond in music and quickly connected. As cooks, they spent evenings listening to songs and using the kitchen line microphone to sing. They smoked pot, drank free beer off the tap out at the bar, and laid the groundwork which would later be reaLation. “ Those times really shaped our direction.", said Vincent. "We wrote a good portion of Sustain (their first release) and spent the next few years learning how to play our songs.” In 2000, David and Vincent convinced drummer Mike Esposito to come on board. Mike rounded out the sound and gives them the versatility to experiment with the different styles. In 2004, the trio went to work on their second album, Self Posturing and Gesticulation. A concept album that focuses on therapy sessions between and embattled man and his therapist, the album was recorded at Cottonhill Studios in Albany. Shortly before the album's release, the band's guitarist and co-founder, Dave Evans, moved to Tennessee. In late 2004, after a few months off, Lane had an itch to get the band back together. This is when he employed the guitar stylings of childhood friend, Tom Nasadoski. Vince, Tom and Mike played shows from February 2005 to September 2005. Tom left the band then, citing the need spend more time at home. It was then that Vincent and Mike met Jeromie Charpentier, a veteran of the local scene. Jeromie had been playing guitar in bands for twenty years and this version of reaLation. quickly established itself as force to be reckoned with. "This lineup was the most polished .", said Lane. "People started to take notice" The band was able to establish regular shows in and around the area. This was enough to catch the eye of Chris DiBennedetto, who runs a fledgling production company by the name of UCEPA Productions. Chris will be helping the band book higher paying shows with more exposure. The band said goodbye to drummer Mike Esposito and Jeromie Charpentier in October 2006. Both felt compelled to leave, but the split couldn't be more amicable. It was at that time that Vincent was able to recruit in one of the area's finest drummer, Paul Salamone. Paul had played in the Beatles tribute band, The Brits, and most recently with Joe Nacco. The band then picked up guitarist Aegis Bonesteel in December 2006. Armed with a new sound, the band decided to change the name- The Fizziks was born (www.myspace.com/fizziksband) . This gestation survived until April 2007, when artistic differences split the band. Jeromie, Mike and Vincent decided that with the correct attitude, open communication and mutual respect, their project could thrive. They decided to keep The Fizziks as the cover band and reaLation as the original project. Jeromie and Vincent also formed an acoustic duo- Duality (www.myspace.com/dualitysongs) in May 2007. The band is looking forward to a fruitful 2007. |
